The Course

Son Gual certainly screams Championship quality. Whilst most of the courses in Mallorca seem to blend into the landscape, Son Gual has the feel of purpose-built golf course – and that’s not a bad thing as it offers something you won’t find anywhere else on the island.

The holes are long from tee to green and the fairways are wide but don’t let this make you think this is a walk in the park as huge manicured bunkers and vast lakes crop up on almost every hole. Being here in February and having visited a lot of other courses on the island that week, I was blown away by the quality of the grass in comparison to others. The guys clearly work hard here to keep this place in pristine condition all year round.

The Clubhouse

Son Gual’s clubhouse is grand but modest. A fantastic outdoors terrace restaurant offers some spectacular views over the golf course and beyond, definitely a must for a post round beer. Inside the clubhouse is modern and clean. A pro shop with course merchandise and changing facilities all reside here.

The Location

Conveniently located just on the eastern outskirts of Palma makes it very easy to get to. It’s also around 5 minutes from the airport so if your feeling keen you could be swinging away within an hour of walking off the plane! If you want to stay local then Les Meravalles is probably the closest place worth staying. Its lively and right on the beach with plenty of beach front restaurants and bars.
